Delhi is more than India's capital. It is a city where centuries of history, architecture, religion, food and everyday life exist side by side. A well-planned Delhi tour allows you to experience its major landmarks without spending your entire day in traffic or rushing from one attraction to another.
At Tajwithguide, we arrange private and customizable Delhi sightseeing experiences for travelers who want to explore the city with local assistance and practical planning. Whether you have half a day, one day, two days or several days, we can help you create a Delhi itinerary that fits your schedule.
Delhi can be overwhelming for a first-time visitor. The city is large, traffic conditions vary, and attractions are spread across different areas.
A professionally planned tour can make your sightseeing easier.
With Tajwithguide, you can arrange:
Your itinerary can be adjusted according to your interests, available time and onward travel plans.
A half-day tour is ideal if you have limited time in Delhi, are staying near the airport, have a business schedule or want a short introduction to the city.
Depending on your interests, your tour may include selected landmarks in Old Delhi or New Delhi.
Ideal for: short stays, transit travelers and first-time visitors with limited time.
A full-day Delhi sightseeing tour gives you enough time to experience several of the city's major landmarks.
A typical itinerary can combine attractions such as:
The exact route should be planned according to opening schedules, traffic and your interests.
Tajwithguide Tip: Don't try to visit every attraction in Delhi simply because you have a full day. A carefully selected itinerary usually produces a much better experience.
With two days, you can explore Delhi at a more comfortable pace.
Explore landmarks associated with modern and imperial Delhi, such as:
Experience the historic heart of the city:
The exact itinerary can be customized.
Old Delhi offers a completely different experience from the broad avenues of New Delhi.
The historic area around the Red Fort, Jama Masjid and Chandni Chowk combines Mughal heritage, traditional markets, narrow lanes, food and everyday life.
An Old Delhi tour can include:
One of India's most important Mughal monuments and a major landmark in Old Delhi.
One of Delhi's most prominent historic mosques.
A historic commercial district known for markets, traditional shops and local food.
Travelers interested in food can combine sightseeing with carefully selected local culinary experiences.
Tajwithguide Insider Tip: Old Delhi is best experienced at a slower pace. The attraction is not only the monuments but also the streets, architecture, markets, aromas and daily life surrounding them.
New Delhi developed as India's imperial capital in the early 20th century and today contains some of the city's best-known government buildings, boulevards, museums and monuments.
Depending on your itinerary, you can visit:
Your guide can help you select attractions according to the amount of time available.
Delhi contains far more attractions than can comfortably be visited in one day.
Some of the most popular places include:
A major Mughal-era monument and one of Old Delhi's defining landmarks.
A historic architectural landmark in the heart of Old Delhi.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of Delhi's most recognizable monuments.
A magnificent Mughal garden-tomb and an important architectural predecessor to later Mughal monuments.
One of New Delhi's best-known landmarks.
Known for its distinctive lotus-inspired architecture.
A large modern temple complex known for its architecture and cultural presentation.
One of the most famous historic market areas of Old Delhi.
Delhi can feel very different from the cities many international travelers are accustomed to.
Our approach is to make the sightseeing experience easier to understand and navigate.
Your guide can help with:
You don't have to follow a fixed itinerary if your interests are different.
If this is your first trip to Delhi, don't try to see everything.
A good first-time itinerary should normally combine a selection of:
Mughal heritage + New Delhi landmarks + local culture
For example:
Qutub Minar → Humayun's Tomb → India Gate → Old Delhi → Jama Masjid → Chandni Chowk
The exact order should depend on the day's practical conditions.
Group attractions by location whenever possible. Delhi traffic can consume valuable sightseeing time, so a geographically sensible itinerary is often more useful than a simple list of the city's "top attractions."
If you have a long layover or are staying near Delhi Airport, you may not need to spend your entire visit at the hotel.
A customized airport sightseeing tour can be planned around your available time.
Possible options include:
For airport travelers, the itinerary should always include a comfortable buffer for returning to the airport.
Don't plan airport sightseeing based only on the driving time shown by an online map. Allow additional time for traffic, security procedures and returning to the airport.
Delhi, India’s capital, is a city that blends centuries-old heritage with modern vibrance, offering visitors an unforgettable journey through its iconic monuments, bustling markets, and lush gardens. From awe-inspiring Mughal-era landmarks to serene spiritual centers, here are the top places to visit in Delhi.
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Red Fort is a majestic 17th-century fortress made of red sandstone. It stands as an enduring symbol of India’s rich history and was once the main residence of Mughal emperors. Wander through its expansive courtyards, museums, and markets to experience the essence of imperial Delhi.
One of the most recognizable monuments in Delhi, India Gate is a 42-meter triumphal arch that honors Indian soldiers who died in World War I. Located on the ceremonial Kartavya Path, it is surrounded by expansive lawns, making it a popular spot for evening strolls and family picnics.
Standing at 73 meters, the Qutub Minar is the world’s tallest brick minaret and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Built in the early 13th century, its intricately carved sandstone balconies and towering presence make it an architectural marvel and a must-visit for history lovers.
This stunning Mughal-era mausoleum is known for its grand Persian-style gardens and symmetrical architecture. Revered as the precursor to the Taj Mahal, Humayun’s Tomb is a tranquil haven amidst busy Delhi, perfect for leisurely walks and photography.
A sprawling city park dotted with centuries-old tombs, picturesque bridges, and lush lawns, Lodhi Garden is ideal for nature lovers and history enthusiasts. Its quiet paths and floral gardens offer a peaceful escape from the city’s hustle. Other iconic sites include the impressive Lotus Temple, known for its flowerlike architecture and open-to-all spiritual atmosphere, and the bustling Chandni Chowk market, famous for its street food and old-world charm. The Akshardham Temple dazzles visitors with intricate carvings and cultural exhibitions, while Gurudwara Bangla Sahib and Jama Masjid showcase the pluralistic religious fabric of Delhi. From ancient forts and lavish tombs to modern museums and thriving bazaars, Delhi offers a diverse palette for every traveler, promising history, culture, and flavor at every corner.
The Lotus Temple, also known as the Bahá’í House of Worship, is celebrated for its stunning flower-like design. Opened in 1986, it welcomes people of all faiths, inviting visitors to marvel at its architectural beauty and experience moments of serenity in its peaceful prayer hall. The temple's 27 marble petals arranged in clusters evoke a lotus in full bloom, making it a captivating symbol of unity and harmony in the capital.
Rashtrapati Bhavan serves as the official residence of the President of India and a symbol of India’s democratic legacy. The grand structure is renowned for its impressive colonial architecture, sprawling Mughal gardens, and ornate interiors. While entry to the main residence requires advance booking, visitors can explore the lush gardens and the museum, which provides insights into India's political history and heritage.
Akshardham Temple is a modern architectural wonder inaugurated in 2005. Over 11,000 artisans contributed to its intricate carvings and decorative motifs, celebrating Indian culture, spirituality, and craftsmanship. With its exhibitions, beautiful gardens, and mesmerizing water shows, Akshardham offers a blend of devotion, art, and learning for every age group.

Many international travelers visit Delhi primarily as part of a trip to the Taj Mahal.
In that case, combining Delhi sightseeing with Agra can make your itinerary much more efficient.
Popular combinations include:
Delhi → Agra → Taj Mahal → selected Agra sightseeing → Delhi
Delhi → Agra → Taj Mahal → Agra sightseeing → overnight/return according to itinerary
Delhi → Agra → Jaipur
This forms part of India's classic Golden Triangle route.
If the Taj Mahal is your primary objective, you don't necessarily need to spend several days in Agra.
A private Delhi-to-Agra tour can be arranged around your preferred transportation and sightseeing schedule.
Possible transportation options include:
Your choice should depend on your hotel location, travel style, budget and onward itinerary.
Tajwithguide Insider Tip: If you're continuing to Jaipur after Agra, plan the entire Delhi–Agra–Jaipur route together rather than treating each journey as a separate trip.
Best for travelers with very limited time.
Choose a small number of attractions rather than trying to cover the whole city.
A balanced first-time itinerary can combine:
Qutub Minar + Humayun's Tomb + India Gate + Old Delhi
The exact selection can be changed according to your interests.
New Delhi heritage and landmarks
Old Delhi, markets, food and historic monuments
Two days allow considerably more flexibility than a single-day visit.
Explore Mughal, colonial and modern architectural heritage.
Discover traditional food and local culinary culture with guidance suited to international visitors.
Focus on architecture, streets, markets, monuments and distinctive views.
Explore traditional markets and selected shopping areas.
Travel at your own pace with a private vehicle and guide.
A more relaxed itinerary designed around children and family requirements.
Designed around the limited time available between flights.
For Delhi tour packages you can make a planning for few hours to few days according to your budget and time crunch. We can provide you various Delhi tour itineraries like Delhi to Mathura Tour, Delhi to Taj Mahal, Delhi to Vrindavan, Hill stations near Delhi, Delhi to Manali, Delhi to Shimla, Delhi Half Day Tour, 1 Day tour of Delhi, 3 days Delhi and Jaipur tour, 4 days Delhi to Haridwar Rishikesh tour etc.| Days | Sedan | Large Car (6 Seater) | Tour Guide (1-4 pax) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 Days | 35 USD | 50 USD | 35 USD |
| 2 Days | 70 USD | 97 USD | 70 USD |
| 3 Days | 105 USD | 145 USD | 100 USD |
Delhi is too large for that. Select attractions according to your interests.
Tell your guide whether history, architecture, food, shopping, photography or culture matters most to you.
Travel time can significantly affect your sightseeing schedule.
A geographically sensible route can save considerable time.
Don't treat Chandni Chowk as something to see from a vehicle. Walking through the historic area is part of the experience.
A little flexibility makes it easier to handle traffic, queues and weather.
Leave a comfortable buffer before flights.
The historic lanes can be confusing for first-time visitors, and a knowledgeable guide can add historical and cultural context.
If museums, shopping or religious sites aren't your interests, your itinerary can be adjusted accordingly.
The city's culture, food, markets, neighborhoods and everyday life are an important part of the experience.
Enough for a limited selection of attractions.
Good for the major highlights.
Better for combining Old Delhi and New Delhi.
Suitable if you want a slower experience and additional museums, food, markets or cultural activities.
If the Taj Mahal is also part of your trip, consider planning Delhi + Agra together.
Delhi can be visited throughout the year, but the experience varies considerably by season.
Your sightseeing plan should take into account:
During hotter periods, earlier sightseeing can be more comfortable.
During cooler months, mornings can be noticeably cooler and visibility conditions can vary.
Tajwithguide Insider Tip: Choose your sightseeing schedule according to the season rather than copying an itinerary created for a different time of year.
A few simple preparations can make your sightseeing easier:
Both can work.
May suit travelers who enjoy exploring independently and have plenty of time for planning.
May be better for travelers who want:
There is no single correct way to explore Delhi.
The best option depends on your travel style.
Delhi, Agra and Jaipur form India's classic Golden Triangle.
Capital city, Mughal heritage, markets and modern India.
Home of the Taj Mahal and other important Mughal monuments.
Known for its forts, palaces, colorful markets and distinctive architecture.
A Golden Triangle itinerary can be customized from a short trip to a longer private journey.
Whether you're visiting Delhi for a few hours or several days, we can help you create an itinerary around your interests.
Tell us:
Where are you staying?
How much time do you have?
What would you like to see?
Are you continuing to Agra or Jaipur?
We'll help you plan a practical Delhi sightseeing experience rather than simply giving you a list of attractions.

The historical references of Parsi population in Agra are found. There were influential Parsis during the Mughal times even during the British times the Parsi being well educated were easily educated by the British regime. Agra certainly had a lot of Parsis in the part but unfortunately all there Parsis here left Agra and now no Parsi stays in Agra. On the Ajmer road there is a Parsi religious centre probably in the past Agra had the Fire temple which probably was shifted. Agra also had an Aramgoa (a place for laying the dead to rest). The association of Parsis probably started with king Akbar when one of the most influential religious leader of the Parsis came to meet king Akbar. Dastur Meher ji rana of Navsari oppressed the king with his knowledge. He probably also took part in the Akbars Sulah E Kul – a conference of all religious at Fatehpur Sikri.
